Information about Gutters and Rain Drainage

The best thing you can do for your home or business is to keep water away from it.

North Texas's expansive, clay-based soil swells when it gets wet. This can make your home’s foundation prematurely lift and also sink in places causing it to crack. Moisture then gets deep into the concrete and your house settles further now causing exterior cracks in your brick and mortar. With repeated or prolonged exposure to moisture, your home will also be susceptible to rot, mold, mildew, discoloration, seepage, landscaping erosion, severe costly damage and more.

This is why rain gutters and proper drainage of rain water away from your home are so important. Properly functioning rain gutters and drainage systems shield your home and usher harmful rain water safely away from it.  When it comes to protecting your home from rain water with a properly working drainage system, Benjamin Franklin's old adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” is most certainly true.

Rain gutters can be made out of wood, plastic or vinyl, and metal (steel, copper or aluminum).  Seamless gutters are the most popular type/style today. Currently it is estimated that 75% of the rain gutters installed in America are made of seamless aluminum. The reason for aluminum’s popularity is that at a moderate cost you'll have a material that can last a lifetime and is resistant to rust, even when subjected to standing water over long periods of time.  Seamless does not necessarily mean completely without seams as the pieces must meet at corners and downspouts; realistically it means that there is less opportunity for rain water to leak. The fabrication of seamless gutters cannot be done as a do-it-yourself project; the gutters must be formed in a gutter machine operated by a skilled contractor.

The Benbrook Gutter Company specializes in the design, fabrication and installation of seamless 5 inch “K” style aluminum and copper gutters; this includes downspouts, elbows, and other gutter related accessories. Our corners are hand mitered, a rare specialty in the industry.  With the exception of the pipe used in our French drain systems, all of our materials come from the Senox Corporation, a leader in the seamless gutter industry for over thirty-eight (38) years. Senox’s painted aluminum gutter products are available in twenty (27) different colors and carry a manufacturer’s fifty (50) year paint warranty to guarantee that your gutters will never chip, peel, or crack.

As standard practice the Benbrook Gutter Company will install your new gutters behind the existing flashing, ensuring no rain water will escape behind them, preventing future damage to your wood and/or paint. We use hidden hangers which are clipped into the gutter and are screwed to the fascia or rafter ends every two (2) feet with 1½-inch galvanized wood screws to assure strength, longevity and improve your home or business’s appearance. We use Ruscoe brand self-leveling sealant as it adheres to aluminum better than any other sealant, giving a long lasting, durable seal that also looks good for years to come.

Each installation is a custom fit for your home or business. Most jobs can be completed in a single day. Customer Satisfaction is our first priority, our referral customers being our best advertisement.

Protect the beauty and the value of your home before it’s too late.
